Natch or Satch?!

Whether you're a natural blonde or a saturated mermaid we have got you covered. Today in salon we've been seeing a lot of mixed styles and we love celebrating diversity. Especially in hair! 

On the Left we have one of Kirstys clients who travelled here all the way from Manchester. When she arrived in salon she needed a bit of a top up on her roots but nothing to uniform and basic. Kirsty has done Taras before and has a master at beautiful free hand highlight technique which she loves. The pros of a this visual technique is it works incredible for an seamless blend among many others giving it a flawless finish.

On the Right we have one of Takisha clients who wasn't to shy is wanting bold and saturated colour to brighten up this time of year. Before she came in her hair was blonde but grown out from not colouring her hair for sometime. She wanted to be bold and purple was the perfect shade to ignite her personality and flatter her skin tone. With details of a darker root this colour is perfect for adding a sass factor to your image much like Roxanne wanted.

Transform it!

Blonde hair is amazing but sometimes the up keep can get too much hassle! For Libby's client that was the case and she wanted a change. When her client came into salon her roots were growing out and she decided to opt to go back to a natural brunette. Libby started with preparing the hair with a prepping for an even colour and then worked on deepening the hair to a Mocha Tea with a deeper root for detail. We are really excited to be stocking Evo hair styling products back in salon and Libby used them today to style Elaines! Have you had enough of your hair and fancy a change, This season is the perfect time to change so if you're up for it we are here to help!

Maple trees and Autumnal breeze.

Freshening up your look never needs to be a bad thing especially when you're cutting off old colour and dead ends! Thats exactly what Kirsty's client wanted when coming in on Friday and she was more than happy to help! When Beth came in to see Kirsty on Friday she was wanting a change but nothing to drastic and something fresh for the new season. Kirsty worked her magic and softly coloured her hair to a soft autumn brunette and created a beautiful long tousled bob that bounces and flows just hitting Beths shoulders.

The British Hairdressing awards | Eastern hairdresser of the year finalist.

So we've been a little bit quite about this on the blog but we have some amazing news to share with everyone. Creative Director Callum Standen-May is a finalist for the 'Eastern Hairdresser of the Year 2015' award at the British Hairdressing Awards. The collection itself is heavily influenced by seventies poolside glamour with elements of Tom Ford and Studio 54. Each model was cast specifically for a style icon of the time which shines through as you look at the styles created. We are going to be sharing the inspirations for each model soon, so keep your eyes peeled and let us know your favourite shot down below in the comments

Shaping up for the cold weather.

Sometimes it takes a change in weather to realise you want a change in hair too! 

Pippa was exactly that client when she came to see Callum Standen-May on Saturday for her hair cut. When she arrived in salon her hair was just below collar bones and not really one style or another, after her consultation with Callum her new length and fringe were decided and there was no going back! After her hour appointment her hair was transformed and her new complimentary length and fringe were here to stay!

Ying and Yang!

With the new season in full swing the decision is here to be made. Going dark is such a popular choice when the colder months roll in but blonde is definitely a great way to go too! Here is some clients from the last week in our Lowergoat lane salon.

 On the left we have the beautiful Ailsa who came in for highlights as she was getting a bit root. After a late afternoon session with Paul Standen-May her hair was freshened the pair opted a loose wave to compliment her new cool tone. 

On the right we have a much warmer alternative! Jen came in with Tessa to get her colour retouched for her new job yesterday and needed something to richen up her look. With her style she also loved a bit of a wave to add volume!

It doesn't have to be boring!

Growing your hair out doesn't need to be a struggle, it can be fun and on trend.

 When Hope first started coming to the salon her hair hair was long but opted for the chop when she modelled for our recent collection 'Our House'. Now she's growing out her locks and having regular trims to keep her edges neat, she has a whole lot more texture and style to play with. From a kept crop to native waves there is no boundaries when you get a little bit of length.

We are in the Midi of something..

The Midi-bob has been around for a while now but in the salon this week it's the most requested style! 'Why?' We hear you scream, well there are definitely some great reasons to lose a few inches of length and reap some awesome benefits! 

It's that time of year where you don't need long hair.. Festival season is over so the long messy hair look is out and the chic midi is in, This style looks beautiful softly tousled or left natural if that bohemian look is your thing. The midi is super simple style as you literally have less hair to contend with but long enough to tie up on work days which is brilliant for the professional types too. The style itself is timeless and looks good whatever your dress sense is like.. So there's only one question left.. Are you brave enough to take the plunge?

Clean and Creamy!

Sometimes your hair just needs to get to a point where it's perfectly creamy and almost edible. 

When vicky came into the salon her colour was lovely but it was time for a bit of a refresh! Working with a root stretch technique Paul Standen-May kept definition where it was needed and Balyaged Vicky's mid-lengths and ends to clean up her previous blonde. This is great way to achieve lightness but also balance when lightening hair.  Using Wella Professional colour with a natural warmth as a palette he created a beautiful dirty creamy blonde which is definitely exposing itself as a new trend for A/W 15!

From Green to Gleam.

It's amazing how much a subtle change in tone can change your whole opinion of yourself and style.

When Jazzy came in today she really hated her hair colour. When she described it she said it was 'dull, boring and the khaki tones just made her feel flat and lifeless'. Her hair was sitting a little bit green due to her dying her hair brown from blonde without properly pre-pigmenting her hair. Senior technician Amber Duffy took the reins with her consultation and decided she needed to inject some warmth back into her hair to compliment her complexion. As soon as Jazzy was done she decided to whack' on her lipstick to celebrate her new shiny hair!

Separate | Essence | Texturate

Texture is beautiful and we don't appreciate it enough! 

There is a big focus in the hairdressing industry on sleek and glossy hair but just like lipstick, switching it up is the key to being the cool kid! On Saturday we had some really cool clients in who were ready to play up their image and experiment with the nitty-gritty. 

On the left we have  Paul Standen-Mays client, She was on her way to a tribal party and wanted something entrancing. Using Sea Salt spray by EiMi and setting the hair in twists her created a Vagabond tousle with detailing of a loose scalp-plait to add interest. 

On the right we have Callum Standen-Mays client, She was in for a style freshen-up. Her hair is a beautiful clean platinum and adding texture was a perfect way to shag up her mod style! With the short chop to her fringe it added a bit of punch back to her locks and added interest!
