The British Hairdressing awards | Eastern hairdresser of the year finalist.

So we've been a little bit quite about this on the blog but we have some amazing news to share with everyone. Creative Director Callum Standen-May is a finalist for the 'Eastern Hairdresser of the Year 2015' award at the British Hairdressing Awards. The collection itself is heavily influenced by seventies poolside glamour with elements of Tom Ford and Studio 54. Each model was cast specifically for a style icon of the time which shines through as you look at the styles created. We are going to be sharing the inspirations for each model soon, so keep your eyes peeled and let us know your favourite shot down below in the comments

We don't only dress beautiful hair for women, we also do it for men too! What better way to display this would be doing a barbering show? Recently The Egg Directors travelled all the way from Norwich to Newport for The Barber Connect event where they taught on stage!

Barber Connect is an exhibition which connects Uk barbers in a real life platform to share knowledge, skill and raise the standard of mens hair. The venue is filled with seminars,  demonstrations, workshops and stalls for all your barbering needs.

Creative Director Callum Standen & Senior Director Mark Blunsten attended this years event to present some vintage & modern styles to the masses and they loved it. Mark worked on creating a more traditional and classic style creating a 50's look which included perfecting fading, disconnection & blending.

Callum worked on a much more modern level with his model and showed some techniques he has acquired from recent catwalk shows. He taught the observing crowds how to cut and style creatively and how to work more visually to tailor the cut to the bespoke client. After the show, the boys did a question and answers session for followers and watchers of the demo and then set off to check out others work.

Barber Connect is a growing platform for male hairdressing and The Egg directors loved attending the event and loved working alongside others on the Mens Hair Federation stage and we can't wait for future events so keep and eye out for us!

So to start of this blog we must catch you up on a few things we've been doing in salon! The year is 2014 and it's been an extremely exciting year for everyone involved with The Egg. We have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time and are continuing to grow bigger and bigger.

To get you up to date of where we currently are we will introduce you to Creative Director of the Salon - Callum Standen (pictured above).  He is one of the Founders of The Egg and works creatively releasing seasonal collections for the salon..

Our launch Collection 'The Asylum' which was in association with The Fellowship of British hairdressing. Pictured above it was a shock value collection we conjured up under Callums wing to capture the attention of our audiences and to display good hair at the same time.

The Collection was based on Pre-Nineteen Hundreds mental asylums and the disturbia caused to the patients & visiters. Inspired by the abandoned asylums that are still erected today, we looked at 'Beauty in Decay' which incorporated strong outlines with texture inside . Other inspirations which lead the collection to a much more modern level were movies such as 'Girl Interrupted' where Angelina Jolie plays a character named 'Lisa Rowe' who according to Wikipedia is 'A diagnosed sociopath who easily manipulates the woman around her'.  Working with Choreographer Steven Knights we aimed to inprison that with the models on stage.

Using a mixture of 'Tigi Hard Head' hair spray and 'Sassoon shine spray' the team created beautiful movement in hair that was teamed with very strong look using Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation in White & big dark swollen lips created with Illamasqua Lipstick in Kontrol the collection was complete.

Music featured on the stage of Professional Hair Live in Manchester was Crookers - That Laughing Track to grab the attention of passerby and the audience at The Fellowship Newcomers show in January & Professional Hair Pro Live in March and their is where the collection was born! This S/S 14 collection wanted to show a dark and periodic collection incorporating white alternative fashion which we found refreshing from floral and we hope you enjoyed it if you haven't seen it before..

So there is a little peek into what we were doing earlier on in the year and our first blog post for you to read, We have many exciting events coming up in the near future and we can't wait for you to read about it. Don't forget to Subscribe VIA email on our side box to keep up to date with us.
