Soraya Janson is killing it!

With our British hairdressing awards photoshoot under wraps we have some time to make appreciation for one of our models from last years shoot. You may have seen her face online or in a shop window as she blew up last season in some amazing campaigns.

Soraya Janson was featured in our winning collection for Eastern hairdresser of the year awards  'The Valley Girls' as our short haired Grace Jones, pulling shapes and being incredibly poise whilst doing so!

After our collection was published we started seeing her face pop up in other collections and her androgynous striking beauty was still shining on. Spotting her in campaigns for the new Toni and Guy collection was the first place we saw her pop up whilst walking down the street in central London. Her brows were sharp (We love a dark brow and her hair was ashy and a moment of pride came over us as one of our girls was flourishing!

At The Egg we love staying cultured and a good read for us is often featured on Dazed Digital where we've spotted her face pop up a few times with designer Martajaku Bowski new collection featured here:

It seems shes breaking gender norms working on a collection that isn't limited by Gender or Sex which works perfectly with clean and androgynous image.

We love catching some of our models in Press as it keeps us inspired!
Could you rock a short crop like Soraya!?

Warm it up because It's getting cold!

Warm and rich tones are in, it's just like florals at spring, it's no surprise and we are starting to see people ditch the blonde for a brunette as this seasons must-have! One of those clients was Takisha's client yesterday, she fancied a change and decided that turning to the dark side was the best choice. When Lilly came in she had a golden blonde base with regrowth coming through so her colour needed a pre-pig before just applying the colour. After the hair was prepped Takisha chose a brunette tone that would suit her client and also compliment her eye colour and skin tone. Settling on a beautiful Roasted Peacan brunette het hair was transformed!

Takisha works at our Lowergoat Lane salon, to book in with her and get your colour switched up give us a call on 01603 761176

WE LOVE JOSIE!

Alternative hair is always fun to have and is a hairdressers favourite thing to do when you get free reign. When Josie came into salon she wanted a change, she wanted to lose a lot of length yet also keep some of signature texture in the sides and fringe. Callum Standen-May decided to reinvent a modern chelsea cut taking the back and sides off but leaving detailing around the sides and recut her short statement fringe back in. Josie loves a bit of a change thats statement and full of character and we love it!

Maple trees and Autumnal breeze.

Freshening up your look never needs to be a bad thing especially when you're cutting off old colour and dead ends! Thats exactly what Kirsty's client wanted when coming in on Friday and she was more than happy to help! When Beth came in to see Kirsty on Friday she was wanting a change but nothing to drastic and something fresh for the new season. Kirsty worked her magic and softly coloured her hair to a soft autumn brunette and created a beautiful long tousled bob that bounces and flows just hitting Beths shoulders.

Kirsty works at our Lowergoat lane salon from Tuesday to Saturday to book in with her give us a call on 01603 761176!

Shaping up for the cold weather.

Sometimes it takes a change in weather to realise you want a change in hair too!

Pippa was exactly that client when she came to see Callum Standen-May on Saturday for her hair cut. When she arrived in salon her hair was just below collar bones and not really one style or another, after her consultation with Callum her new length and fringe were decided and there was no going back! After her hour appointment her hair was transformed and her new complimentary length and fringe were here to stay!

Callum is the salon directors in the Loweroat Lane salon, to book in with him give us a call on 01603 761176!

Kirsty has joined our team from working in surrounding salons in Norwich and has a lot of experience.  Since joining the industry in 2006 she has trained with the Paul Standen-May and has graduated as a master colour expert with Wella Professional in April this year..

Today in salon she transformed her client Eve who has her hair a little bit mistreated in the past. When she came into the salon her hair was very rooted and light and needed some Autumn richness.

It doesn't have to be boring!

Growing your hair out doesn't need to be a struggle, it can be fun and on trend.

When Hope first started coming to the salon her hair hair was long but opted for the chop when she modelled for our recent collection 'Our House'. Now she's growing out her locks and having regular trims to keep her edges neat, she has a whole lot more texture and style to play with. From a kept crop to native waves there is no boundaries when you get a little bit of length.

Don't chase the sun.

The sun is setting earlier now, and you can't get those natural holiday highlight by hanging out at the beach anymore.. But don't let that stop you! This week in Salon we've seen a lot of sunlit highlights and natural lightening techniques shine through as a big request.

Katie (left) Had her hair done with Chloe today and wanted sunlit highlights with a contrast darker tone. Using a free-hand Balayage technique Chloe lifted and contrasted multiple tones to give Katie the definition she wanted with a beautiful organic palette.

Also Beth (right) was in the salon last week with technician Naomi to get her root stretch brought higher. We all know that a bit of root definition is hot right now and lifting a your grown out blonde a few inches higher is great way to maintain your style. Both colours worked with natural tones of cools, brunettes and golds to give a more kissed finish.

Natural highlights don't need to come from a holiday and you can definitely fake it with a great technician at hand. To book in with Chloe or Naomi give our Lowergoat Lane salon a call on 01603 761176.

Brighten up your life!

Now we speak a lot about Amber Duffy's work on our blog as she's one of our amazing MCE technicians.. Here's what Amber looks like!

Recently she really wanted to sass up her image and blonde was the perfect way. Ambers hair was lovely before but for the season change she wanted to brighten it up with some root definition for visual texture. Colour Director Paul Standen-May did her colour and they both actually played with a few toners before settling on clean cream blonde.

Do you fancy a hair change? You should give us a call on 01603 761176 | 01603 616396 and book an appointment/consultation if you do.

Change is in the air!

Now we have not been shy about posting all the colour changes as Autumn rolls in..
Today in salon Paul was welcomed back from his time in Ibiza last week with a big colour change. When Gemma came into salon her hair was overdue for a new colour and she wanted to be daring and take a plunge of vibrancy. A great way to perk yourself and make your self feel sassier is definitely to go bold!

Salons combined!

So today we've been seeing different styled by both salons.
We ventured down to our lovely Magdalen street salon and snapped a beautiful shot of Louises client Tracy, she had her hair coloured today to a autumnal auburn with the seasonal change happening right now we are finding it a perfected transitional shade.

On the flipside in our Lowergoat lane salon, we saw a juxtaposition to the Louise as Amber worked with natural curl on shorter hair. Her client Daisy wanted something easy to handle that had a cool edge, a side part it was as it works great on short styles and is an awesome way to add definition and interest too!

Switching it up!

What's your hair tipple, is it vivid and bold or soft and natural.

Recently Chelsea has been adventuring around with her look to find her autumn winter colour palette. Initially she wanted pink hair and rocked it for a week or two, after a while she decided it was fun for the weekend but not for her permanently. Luckily MCE (master colour expert) Amber Duffy was there to get her back to blonde but with a beautiful creamy blonde twist and a sunken root definition.

The best bit about exploring with your colour are the possibilities are endless and discovering what suits you the best is the funnest part of seasonal / personal change. Are you switching up your image for autumn?

Amber is also looking to build her freelance portfolio up working on shoots and events as she loves to be involved in creative projects.

(Amber works in our Lowergoat Lane salon Monday - Friday so to book a consultation with her contact us on 01603 761176)

Is Kates fringe the new must have?

Has Kate Middleton jumped on this years trend wagon with her new seventies inspired fringe?

2015 has been an awesome year for the seventies revival with disco breaching the mainstream music industry, suede coming back and those funky trousers swinging about, here at The Egg Salons we are forecasting that the seventies fringe is going to be a big trend this autumn.

It's the perfect accessories to match this time of year too as it's heavy enough to look after in windy environments,  It's long enough to be not to high maintenance and it's in-fitting with all the fashion trends. It looks fantastic on long hair and also on short so we ask you, is it your turn to brave a bang for fall?

from Ombré to Balayage.

With summer officially off the cards with it now being September, It's time to ditch the ombré and move onto a balyage. Naomi has been wanting to do this for a while now and MCE Amber Duffy decided to make it happen.  With Naomi's new balayage she decided to forget her lightened ends and work more with a complimentary golden palette with lightness framing her face. Amber decided to stear clear of cool shades and opted for brunette tones to set off her dark hazel eyes and tanned skin with rich compliments.

Back to Natch.

Colour corrections are a great way to get back to natural but by no means does that mean your hair has to be a flat shade.

When Pauls client came into the salon her hair had been cleansed twice to try and remove a black colour that was previously applied.. After these services her hair was left with intense banding and was beaming an intense raw orange so she decided to book a consultation with Paul at The Egg. After a session with Paul Standen-May her hair was transformed into a lovely highlighted natural brunette that was multi-tonal and beautiful. The possibilities with hair are endless and having a colour correction doesn't mean you have to have an all over flat brown!

New hair | New you

When growing your hair out waiting for it to finally get to a length that you like is the absolute worst.

Luckily hair extensions are a great way to fill in the length and add thickness. Studio 58 are a brand Paul Standen-May has worked with to transform his clients and unleash their #hairgoals.  Creative Editor - Jacqui loves her hair extensions and can't live without them to fulfil her hair thickness needs and to add a little bit of length to her previously broken sides. The extensions she has are keratin bonded U-tip which can last up to 3 months in the hair when looked after well and after the initial installation are basically hassle free!

Diffusing the fuss!

When you have a natural curl, sometimes it's best just to rock it!

This week in the salon we've had quite a lot of style changes as the summer season comes to an end.  What we are forecasting for autumn is a burst of embracing your natural hair, if it's kinky, curly or just a little bit crazy the undone style is shining through for the staple of style. A great way to control this is to prime the hair with a great product when wet and let it air dry or diffuse it to enhance your natural texture.

Breaking up with your old hair.

Breaking up never has to be a bad thing, especially when it's breaking up your colour with a balyage! When Pauls client Charlotte came into salon she had a warm regrowth and lightened ends but wanted a new style. After their consultation together it was decided that her hair needed some depth and lightness (the perfect duo) and something just a little bit more sassy. After a few hours of having her hair done in the salon not only did her hair change but her whole image changed and we have so say we think she looks amazing!
